Back to Underground Moscow

Zolotoy Rozhok (Lefortovo creek) – is an inflow of the Yauza river in Moscow. Today the creek flows inside the pipe. Its length is 2,3 kilometres (1,43 miles). At its lower part there is an elevation of 11,5 meters (38 ft) because of which the creek was called “A flashy strem of Moscow”.

One of the most beautiful places of the Zolotoy Rozhok is where it flows into the Yauza. Some sunlight penetrates here from another side.
Sometimes one can feel a smell of sewage there but mostly the air is fresh.
