Kowloon Walled City

Also known as the Citadel of Kowloon, Kowloon Walled City was located in Hong Kong and was the city's most densely populated country with over 50 000 inhabitants of 0.026km ², whether 1 923 076 inhabitants per square kilometer.
It had been founded by the Chinese and was populated by 700 inhabitants of the region when Hong Kong was leased to the British for 99 years 1898, with the exception of this walled enclave where the Chinese were able to keep troops in a tacit agreement.
The English changed their mind the next year and invaded the city to find it deserted and the question of property arose again until World War II when the Japanese invaded in turn, shaving his wall, then abandoned when they surrender.
It was then invaded by squatters and triads and became a haven for illegal activities like prostitution or drug trafficking, the police are going there because neither the Chinese, nor the British wanted to recognize their responsibility in this city.
As they were settling the squatters rajoutaient floors and buildings in an anarchic way to eventually become a small block of more than 10 floors of tangled corridors, apartments, Gateways, etc.. which formed in maze.

The decision to demolish was finally taken into 1987 and it was evacuated and destroyed in 1992 to make way for a park.
But prior to demolition a Japanese team has spent more than a week to consider in undertaking this kind of map section showing how the city was built and the activities taking place there with small pink silhouettes :
