Illegal Oil Theft in Nigeria
The practice of breaking into pipelines to steal crude oil is known
as “oil bunkering”. It is against the law and is also extremely bad for
the environment but local Nigerians argue that refining oil for overseas
sales can earn them up to $60 a day and the alternative to this is
unemployment and poverty.
