The History of Menus

SS Normandie – 1939 – Dijon municipal library

The Dijon municipal library has assembled a huge collection of more 9000 French or foreign official dinners menus, family ( baptisms, Birthdays, weddings, etc.. ), restaurants, and even offered on planes or ships menus dating 1810 to today.

Through these menus it is possible to discover a history of gastronomy as practiced daily, discover the ways in dishes and wines as well the way they are shown.

Much of the collection is visible on the website of the Dijon municipal library where you can search with specific criteria or navigate menus at random.
